SCOTT JAMES SEVERIN 1987-2023 Scott James Severin passed away on January 26, 2023 in Chico, California. Scott was born on June 29, 1987 to Vance and Kathleen Severin of Chico, CA. Scott had the benefit of a loving extended family close by; his grandparents Richard and Helen Wheeler and great grandmother Helen "Nan" Winkleman moved to Chico when he was 2. Scott was a gentle, kind, and fun loving soul. Scott grew up in Chico and loved the relaxed culture, beautiful environment and diverse recreational opportunities that northern California provides. He enjoyed wakeboarding at Black Butte Lake, skiing at Northstar and Donner Ski Ranch, and dirt bike riding in the Plumas, Lassen, and Mendocino national forests. Scott graduated from Core Butte Charter School. He worked with his uncle Rick at Wheeler Tile and Construction, and later for Crabtree Painting, both of Chico. Scott enjoyed and was proud of his work, and was very well liked by his employers and co-workers. The love of Scott's life was Betsy Olney, of Orland, California. Scott was very proud of their son, Ryker James Severin. He was blessed with many fun and loving years with Betsy, Ryker, and her children Donavin, Charllina, and Starla. Scott's mother Kathleen Helen Severin passed away unexpectedly in June 2020. Scott is survived by his life partner Betsy Olney, their son Ryker James Severin, his father, Vance Severin, his sister Cindy Lyons and her husband Chris of Springfield, Oregon and their daughters Abigail and Madeline, and his grandmother Helen Sherman. Scott left this world far too soon. We will greatly miss his smile, sense of humor, hard working character, and good times together. A celebration of life will be held for Scott at the Five Mile East picnic area at Bidwell Park, Chico, at 11:00 AM on March 4, 2023.
