John "Shoes" Musso, age 73, entered eternal life on July 31, 2020. John was born in Pueblo to parents, Pete and Ida Musso who precede him in death; as well as his brother, Pete "Butch" Musso. John was born and raised on the mesa. He graduated from Pueblo County High School in 1964, attended SCSC where he earned his bachelor's degree to become a teacher and later attended Western State College where he earned a master's degree and principal licensure. John was hired in 1969 as a third grade teacher at North Mesa Elementary School and three years later became the principal where he remained until he retired in 2002 after 33 years in education. Even after his retirement, he remained employed by District 70 working as a consultant for English language students and gifted and talented. Over his extensive career in education, John impacted count-less lives of students, parents and fellow educators. John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Beverly Musso; children, Mark (Tracey) Musso and Gina (Phil) Colletti; grandchildren, Brittany (Chance) Cham-bers, Zachary and Jadon Cook and Nicholas and Brooklyn Colletti; sis-ters-in-law, Sandy Musso and Jamelea (Alan) Thor-son; brother-in-law, Aus-tin Clark; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, special cousins and friends. A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at St. Joseph Catholic Parish Hall, 1145 Aspen Road. The funeral service will be livestreamed via Facebook at the church website: stjosephparish-pueblo.com. Graveside service to follow at Roselawn Cemetery. All are welcome.

I am greatly saddened by the passing of John. He was a great friend and colleague whom I respected very much. He was highly respected both as an accomplished educator and administrator by all of us who knew him. His love for his family, and his passion for his children at North Mesa Elementary was unprecedented.
John graduated from Pueblo County High. He was an outstanding student and athlete. He was a “Hornet” fan throughout his life and attended many athletic events booth home and away.
I extend my sincere condolences to his family and our community. We have lost a true giant and and dedicated servant to the youth of our community. God Bless you John! Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again✝

When I informed my brother that John had passed, he remembered John as a football QB at PCHS. Bill recalled that John could throw a perfect spiral 60 yards on target. Of course those who knew John would attest to him always being on target. John was truly one of the good guys. RIP "Shoes"...
