Verna Mae Myers

SAN JOSE, CA: Verna Mae Myers passed away peacefully from this life to her eternal life in heaven on November 19, 2011 in San Jose, CA. She was born in Chillicothe, OH on December 2, 1916 to Fred and Laura Ellifritt Rodgers. She was married to Samuel C. Myers who died December 15, 1988.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Surviving are her son, Samuel Brent (Sandra) of Chillicothe, daughter Dixie Lee (Rev. James) Parker, of San Jose, CA; grandchildren, Teri (Harmon) Parker, of Kenya, Africa, Melissa (Doug) Matheny, of Chillicothe, Cheryl (Tom) Cook, of Hollister, CA, Heather (Tom) Benzanson, of Bel Air, MD, and Chris (Niki) Myers, Encino, CA; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Mary Myers, Mary Ruth Rodgers, Wanda Rodgers, and Edwin Daily. In addition to her loving husband Sam, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon; brothers, Charles, Fred and David; sisters, Evelyn Daily and Mary and Jack Frost; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Martha and Jim Daw, Earl and Joan Myers, and Betty Rodgers.

Mrs. Myers graduated from Centrailia High School in 1936. She was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church. She was very active, serving as president of the YMCA, Newark, OH; president of the Crestview Hills Women's Club, Crestview Hills Park Club and Northern KY Welcome Wagon Club.

Private graveside services will be held in Grandview Cemetery, and a memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
