Juan F. Yanez, Sr., 71, of Marion, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home at 5:53 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on September 9, 1953, in Greenville, Texas, to Adolfo and Julia (Martin) Yanez, Juan lived a life defined by love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. On January 23, 1971, he married his soul mate, Lucinda LeeAnn Yanes. Their love story began when Juan was just 13 and Lucinda was 11, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. Lucinda preceded him in death on May 22, 2025.
Juan dedicated 47.5 years of his life to General Motors in Marion, where he found great pride and joy in his work. Known for his warm smile and easygoing nature, Juan never met a stranger--he made friends wherever he went. A natural jokester, he brought joy and laughter to every room he entered.
He found his greatest happiness in the simple pleasures of life: spending time with his beloved wife and family, reading, and tending to his garden. Each summer, he grew tomatoes and hot peppers, crafting jars of homemade salsa that he lovingly shared with his favorite people year-round. His calm, kind spirit and generous heart touched everyone who knew him.
Juan is survived by his daughter, Nichol (Shane McVoy) Cardwell of Huntington; sons, Jaime (Nicole) Yanez and Jose (Trisha) Yanez, both of Gas City; grandchildren, Thaddeus Cardwell, Julia (Connor) Wike, Dominic Cardwell, Kaleb McVoy, Izik Brummett, Elijah Yanez, Madelyn Yanez, Annabella Yanez, Sophia Yanez, Amelia Yanez, and Kaison Brubaker; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Adolfo Yanez, Jr., and Roberto (Leslie) Yanez; sisters, Norma Blackmon and Teresa Weatherly; and his loyal dog of 14 years, Gizmo, who remained faithfully by his side until the very end.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolfo "Pancho" Yanez, Sr., and Julia Yanez, and his beloved wife, Lucinda LeeAnn Yanez.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. A celebration of Juan's life will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Mick Simpkins. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
