Charlotte Combs Obituary

Our dear Momma peacefully passed away on April 22, 2024, at the age of 88, in Tampa, Florida. In the comforting presence of her daughter, Amy, Mom found solace and a nurturing home to share.

She was born September 21, 1935 in Canton, Ohio to the late Edward J. and Charlotte M. (Hafner) Masek. Mom graduated from Lincoln High School in 1953. In addition to raising her children she also worked outside the home. From Garfield Grocery to Stolls IGA and the Shipping Connection in Hartville, Ohio. She left her mark wherever she went.

Retirement didn't slow Mom down: in 2002, she relocated to Homosassa, Florida, to be with her siblings. Even then, she continued to work at the JC Penney Salon in Crystal River, FL, showcasing her unwavering commitment. Her work ethic was a beacon for her children, instilling in them values that would guide them through life.

Known affectionately as "Big C", Mom was a force of love and care. Her passion for cleanliness, her joy in watching The Price is Right, her love for reading, and her knack for baking endeared her to all who knew her. As her kids got older they knew to run when Lawrence Welk appeared on TV, and when we hear Engelbert singing we will always think of you.

In 2021, Mom moved to Tampa to live with her daughter Amy, who stood by her side and cared for her until the end. She leaves behind a legacy of love and a family who adored her beyond measure.

Mom is survived by and will be deeply missed by her four children: Jim (Kathy) Beebe, Gerri Beebe (Bill) Kopp, Joyce Beebe (Ronnie) Griffin, and Amy Combs Newhouse. Her grandchildren: Jimmy Beebe, Bill (Dana) Kopp, Kristi (Adam) Murray, Nicholas Kopp and fiance' Ashley Bendle, Daniel (Katelyn) Griffin, R. Garytt, Wyatt and Chaisey Newhouse. Her great-grandchildren: Addy and Quinn Kopp, Noah Murray and fiance' Iris Menegay, Madison (Garrett) Evans, Tanis Murray, and Millie and Lilah Griffin. Her siblings: Dolores Zimmerman, Barbara Litzenburg and Edward J Masek, brother-in-law Calvin (Cherie) Combs, sister-in-law Lynn Combs, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was preceded in death by her husbands: James A. Beebe and Gary L. Combs, her daughter Jodi Lynn Beebe (1956) and her brother David J. Masek, along with brothers-in-law Donald Zimmerman, Scott Litzenburg and Ray Combs.

A private burial will honor Mom's wishes at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Mom's heart.

Angels Unaware

I know sometimes you wonder

when you're feeling all alone.

When times are more than difficult

And your cares seem all your own.

Just remember that I'm praying

God will watch and care for you.

When you doubt His love and presence,

He will prove to you it's true.

He guards your every footstep

Though you do not know He's there

When you find this angel's feather,

Know He's been there – unaware!
