So very sad. Was fondly remembering my old shipmate today and decided to look him up. Dan was a wonderful person, so sorry. Hope Pam is well. Best, Tim Jacoby

Served with Dan on USS Snook (SSN-592) early 1980's when we effected 2 deployments. Dan was the smartest NUKE welder, diver machinist mate to have served with. Dan was instrumental in making difficult tasks/evolutions fun. Methodical, calm and technically sharp in anything he was involved while on Snook. Seem to remember we got MM2 (SS/DV) Butler on trade from another fast attack (Richard B. Russell) and he was qualified EWS. Our engineer, CDR J.H. Sohl and MPA, ADM John Clarke Orzalli will remember what value Dan brought to our ship. Prayers and condolences to Pamela and Kelly.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to the family. I hope that the promise in 1Thessalonians 4:14 can bring comfort. Knowing that there's a hope for the ones we have lost in death can be so reassuring. May the God of all comfort grant you peace and strength during this difficult time.

Dan was the best and most methodical wreck diver I ever entered the water with. Very sorry to hear of his passing.

From 1983 to 2005 his was my cave diving partner whenever he was available and I was in North Florida. We even dove up a power plant cooling outlet, in Hawaii, until the water got so hot I couldn't stand it. So many memories with he, Pam and Kelly

I worked with Dan in the 1990's and 2000's. He was a very thorough engineer and a great friend to work with.
His personality of always cracking a joke to get people laughing will be missed as well.
I will miss talking to you Dan by phone and email.

One of my favorite colleagues and friends, we will all miss his quick wit and vast knowledge. We are poorer for his passing.
