Gary Crevasse Obituary

Gary Arlington Crevasse, PhD, died on September 27, 2016. He was born to Arlington and Kathryn Crevasse in Cedar Key, Florida on 16 October 1934. After spending his early years there, the family moved to Tampa, Florida. Gary graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1952.
Soon after graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy and completed submarine training in New London, Conn. Subsequently he was stationed at the Key West Naval station where he served for four years and was discharged as Chief Petty Officer 3rd class.
Gary then graduated from the University of Florida's College of Agriculture and then on to Michigan State University where he received his Doctorate in Food Science.
Dr. Crevasse accepted the position of Vice President of Product Development at Brechteen Company of Mt. Clemens, MI.
After 30 years of employment, Gary and Gloria retired to a beautiful golf course home in Beverly Hills, FL.
Gary met Gloria Marks of Tampa while serving in the Navy and they were married in St. Andrews Episcopal Church on June 6, 1959.
Many fall vacations were spend hunting deer in the Michigan Peninsula, playing golf in retirement was his passion. He craved Cedar Key seafood and fishing in the Keys with family and friends. Gary and Gloria liked to entertain their guests especially from Europe. Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Gloria, brother Bruce, two nephews, Mark and Brian and many cousins.
A gravesite service will be held at the Cedar Key Cemetery on October 11, 2016 at 2 pm. Prior to the service family and friends are invited to gather at 6030 E. Street (corner of 3rd Ave) for refreshments.

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Gary's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. All SUBVETS and their families have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Gary will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.
