Thomas Alvin Carson, Jr., 77, of Edinburg, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 in Lecanto, Florida.
Born and raised in Edinburg, New Jersey, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Alvin and Nellie Carson. He is survived by his devoted wife, Carole, his sons, Scott and Brian, his beloved grandchildren, Devon, Tyler, and Maureen, and his sisters, Janice and Sandy.
Tom served his country with honor as a Sergeant (E-4) in the United States Air Force, stationed in Las Vegas from May 10, 1966, to March 9, 1970. Following his military service, he worked along side his father and became the proud owner of Lucar Hardware in West Windsor, New Jersey, where he built a successful business and became a valued member of the community. Tom and his wife, Carole retired to Crystal River in 2012.
A gifted craftsman, Tom was known for his exceptional woodworking skills, designing beautiful furniture, built-ins, and constantly tinkering in his garage. His passion for restoring old cars and vintage gas pumps was evident to all who knew him. An avid fisherman, he especially loved fishing for redfish and was known for crafting custom fishing rods as heartfelt gifts for his loved ones. His best days were days spent on the water with his two sons.
Tom had a sharp mind and a lifelong curiosity, enjoying sudoku and crossword puzzles. He loved playing cards and cherished his wife Carole's home cooking, always finding joy in life's simple pleasures.
Tom will be remembered for his intelligence, kindness, thoughtfulness, and the love he had for his family. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A service will be held by the family to celebrate his life at his home in Crystal River (2111 NW 17th St) followed by a celebration of life at Blackwater Grille in Yankeetown, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his memory to Captains For Clean Water.
