Alexander PAPPAS Obituary

PAPPAS Alexander Pappas died March 4, 2008, at the age of 82. He was born to Thomas and Georgia Pappas in Syracuse, New York, where he grew up with his sister, Katherine. He had many fond memories of Syracuse, including exceptional snow storms and unbelievable sporting achievements at Central High School. He met his wife of 55 years, Jean Ann Donald, in New York City, where he began a long and successful career in retail clothing which ended with his retirement from Gidding-Jenny. While Alex and Jean resided in several cities, they lived in Cincinnati for over forty years, where they raised three sons, Richard, Robert and Donald. Alex was an avid reader, loved languages and word games, and was most passionate about playing bridge. He was a Life Master and made many great friends at the Cincinnati Bridge Association. Most recently, Alex and Jean moved to Willow Brook Village in Delaware, Ohio, to be closer to their son, Robert, daughter-in-law, Barbara, and grandson, James. Alex is also survived by his sons, Donald and Richard, daughters-in-law, Margaret and Deborah, and grandchildren, Nicholas, Alexander, Tara, Joseph, Pamela, Morgan, and Alexander. No public services are planned. Anyone wishing to honor Alex may donate to the ACBL Educational Foundation, 1676 Mount Vernon Avenue, East Lansing, MI 48823.
