Eva WYNJA Obituary

WYNJA

Wynja, Eva. July 1, 1915 - January 7, 2012. At the age of 96 Jesus took home our mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Eva is survived by her daughter Terry Schuurmann (Fred), grandchildren Linda Baker (Loren), Ruth Harper (Dirk), Peg MacDonald (Hugh) and James Schuurmann (Stacey) and great grand children Gavin Baker, Claire Baker, Sam Harper, Bryce Harper and Frederick Schuurmann. Eva's husband George died in March of 2005. Eva was born to Pieter and Antje Sandstra in Oosterend, Netherlands and married George Wynja in 1940. They established a bakery in Wierum, Netherlands before emigrating to Whitinsville, Massachusetts in March of 1950. Eva and George were active members of the Pleasant Street Christian Reformed Church in Whitinsville. She cleaned many a home in that area and also worked in a hat shop. When George and Eva moved to Oxford, Ohio in 1988 they became very active members and enjoyed the fellowship at the Oxford Senior Center. It was at the Oxford Senior Center that Eva helped in the kitchen and went to the exercise classes. She considered those exercise classes one of the reasons for her long and healthy life. A celebration of her life will take place January 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Oxford United Methodist Church, 14 N. Poplar St., Oxford. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service at the church. A lunch reception will follow the service at the church and private burial will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers Eva would love to have contributions made in her name to the Oxford Senior Center, Oxford, Ohio. Condolences may be sent online to www.smithoglefuneralhome.com
