Gene Turner passed away December 28, 2012, age 85 years. Husband of the late Mary Clark Hanawalt, survived by son, Brad A. Hanawalt, grandson Colter A. Hanawalt, son, Kurt A. Hanawalt and his wife, Victoria C. Hanawalt and his beloved companion Hildegard Neumann. Retired Procter & Gamble 1984. Memorial visitation will be held, Wednesday, January 9, 2012 at 10:00 am until time of service 11:00 am at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home, 4389 Spring Grove Ave., 45223. Private family burial. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash or the Boy Scouts of America. www.springgrove.org

It was just 45 years ago this week that Gene and I first met when I moved from the technical center to the Ivorydale plant. Later, we shared an office for a few years. One of the prized experiences of my life has been that Gene took me in as a friend and we kept that association alive after I left the company by a long list of dinners and lunches per our regular Thursdays at Sorrentos. It is very disturbing that I can no longer just pick up the phone and have a chat or sit down to discuss some world event. I will miss his friendship very much. I pray that you who are left in his family will enjoy your memories of his life and not be burdened by mourning his passing from this world. Conrad Muzzy

Gene and Hildegard spent Sundays at my house. What a loyal, good and honest friend he was. He liked cheese, must have been a mouse at one point. He will be missed so much. My deepest condolences to Brad's and Kurt's family and my dearest friend Hildegard.
