Phyllis Neyer Obituary

NEYER

Phyllis Ann Neyer (nee Holthaus), beloved wife for 63 years of Don Neyer, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the age of 84. Phyllis was born in Cincinnati on December 4, 1931 to Frederick and Helen (Hutterer) Holthaus. She married Don on March 14, 1953, and they made their home in Cincinnati for the rest of their married life. Anyone who knew Phyllis knew that family and faith were of utmost importance to her. She created a joyous home for their 8 children. Their family would eventually bloom to over 70 members as her children married, had 32 grandchildren, 14 of whom are married and 11 great grandchildren --- and counting. Life took a dramatic turn for Phyllis when she suffered severe and potentially fatal burns from a freak local plane accident in December 1982. She handled her recovery and on-going difficulties with grace and humility, never dwelling on her physical scars. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mary Frick, brother Fred, and her youngest son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Becky (Remke) Neyer. She is survived by her husband Don Neyer, their other seven children and spouses: Barry and Mary Jo (Pruner) Neyer, Diane and John Rose, Donna and Joe Broderick, Dave and Marti (Kordenbrock) Neyer, Dan and Kris (Kroger) Neyer, Jenny and Jim Berg, Mary and Ambar Chowdhury, and Laurie (Traveline) Neyer, and her many grandchildren, their spouses, and great grandchildren. She is survived also by her sister Martha (Dick) Hanauer, brother Richard (Jean) Holthaus, and brother-in-law Tom (Christine) Neyer. Visitation on Saturday from 9 - 10:30 am, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am, both at All Saints Church, 8939 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Twin Lakes Benevolent Care Fund, 9840 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, 45242, or to Xavier University or Saint Vincent de Paul.
