I think back to that 19 year old girl who lost her beloved papaw 9 years ago. I was amazed that life kept moving when one of the biggest pieces of your life is gone. I remember wanting the world to stop, to give me a break so I could take a breath and grieve my grandpa's passing. But life didn't stop, and I'm actually grateful it didn't.

All those lessons, talks, and stories my papaw gave me helped me become more passionate about making my own life full like his was. My papaw was full of life, humor, love, and commitment. I wanted to be like that too.

So here I am, 9 years later, hoping I've made him proud. I hope I'm a good enough daughter to his daughter; I hope I bring her the happiness that should and would have been given by him. I have two puppies that I always think he would adore and play with if he were here, so I adore and play with them like he would have. I've even found the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with; a man who I knew my papaw would love and approve of.

So thinking of today, I am not going to think about the sadness that is connected to it. I want to think about what my papaw gave me. He gave me my beautiful mother. He gave me an example of what a loving marriage looks like, like the neverending love he had for my mamaw. He gave me the ability to not take life too seriously and laugh and joke whenever I could.

Don't forget, because I sure haven't.

As a child, there was no one who held a candle to my Uncle Ronnie. As I grew older and spent less time with him, the time we did have meant so much more. He was what every man should be and the best Uncle a kid could have. I will miss you Uncle Ronnie....

Ron Crump was the greatest papaw I could have ever asked for. He was loyal, kind, and brave as well as funny, sweet, and gentle. He always made me laugh and always made sure I felt loved and cared for. We have shared so many wonderful memories together and I promise to cherish every single moment we had. The thought of him in heaven with my mamaw is what makes me feel better. I'm jealous of all the angels that get to hear his funny jokes from now on. Even though he's not here with me now, I am so incredibly grateful for the 19 years that I have been able to spend with him. All my life I wanted to make him proud, and for the rest of my life I will be doing my best so that he can watch me from heaven and continue to be proud of me. My mother and father named me after him, and I just hope I can live up to such a noble name. I love you so much, papaw. I'll see you someday in the future, because I honestly believe that we will see each other again. Until then, watch over us and keep us safe. And please, DON'T FORGET.
