Kent, know at the Cheshire Health Club pool as Mr. Butterfly, was admired for his mastery of the butterfly stroke. His open smile and gentle manner made him a favorite with mid-day swimmers.
Kent also generously gave of himself to the service of the worshipers at the West Asheville Presbyterian Church, where he breathed new life into the vitality of the congregation.
Many folks' lives were touched by his sermons, which were compassionate affirmations of a life well lived through the teachings of Jesus Christ.
He walked the talk, led by example, and, as a sideline, added a lot of polish to the Tarnished Brass.
He will be missed.

Kent was a fun, personable, supportive and kind youth minister at my church in the 1970's. He and his wife, Margo, were my friends and they had a major positive influence on my formative years. I know his family will miss him terribly, but know also that he will always be fondly remembered by this "kid" of his.
