Marshall Sales Obituary

Marshall Eugene Sales

November 27, 1938 - March 7, 2021.

Marshall Sales stepped peacefully into heaven at his home on March 7th. Mr. Sales was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was born in Fairview and had many jobs in the Asheville area before joining the Air Force in 1956. He served in Florida, England and California. He separated from the service in 1962 to help his sister raise her two sons after their father passed away. He had an interesting employment history working as a circus promoter, insurance salesman, as an interior decorator and owning his own business, Dalton Carpet LLC in Asheville. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Alvin Sales and Dora Mae Chandler Sales, his brothers Robert and Arthur Sales, sisters Catherine Miller, Georgia Boone, Virginia Powlas, Mary Alice Sales, and Bessie Piercy.

One of his greatest joys in life was helping other people. He was not one to say no to anyone. He loved his garden and flower beds. He always grew more than he could use so he could give it away to family, friends and neighbors. He love animals and fed the birds and squirrels for many years until the bears appeared and it became too dangerous to continue. He had quite the zoo around his home of ground hogs, raccoons, opossums, ducks and various other strays that would wander into his yard.

He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He will be buried at a private ceremony in Ashlawn Gardens at a later date.
