Tony Waldrop Obituary

Tony Youless Waldrop

Asheville - Tony Youless Waldrop, 75 of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. Waldrop and Martha S. Monteith; son, Robert Bryan Waldrop; brother, Billy Waldrop and sister, Hiawatha Reemes. Tony is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Waldrop; two sons, Michael K. Waldrop and Andrew F. Waldrop and three grandchildren, Dustin R. Waldrop, Avery D. Waldrop and Emma G. Waldrop. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, whose love for his family was obvious to all around him. He was a friend and mentor to many and had a way of making people feel at ease when they were around him.

Tony was a longtime member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. He served there a deacon, usher, Sunday School teacher, and had for the past few years took great joy in the Tape Ministry, bringing the church service to those who couldn't make it to church. In addition to his memberships at Starnes Cave, he was a long time member of Hominy Masonic Lodge #491. He served the Lodge as Master, Secretary and in any other capacity needed. Tony cherished his service in the Lodge and all his brothers he served with along the way.

The family would like to thank Care Partners for their dedication to and compassionate care for him. We are grateful to the many doctors, nurses and medical workers who aided in his care. You have all been a great blessing and comfort to us. Instead of flowers, we would ask that donations be made to the Starnes Cove Baptist Tape Ministry where Tony served faithfully for many years.

A Memorial Service will be held at Starnes Cove Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at 7pm. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Charlie Sams will officiate with Masonic Funeral Rites to follow. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Sunday School Class. Condolences may be made at www.AshevilleMortuaryServices.com

Dear family I am so very sorry for your great loss. Brother Tony really means a lot to me. He gave me the Bible charge when I was raised to Master Mason, and that turned my life around, because the way he gave it made me realize that I had been trying to operate this life without reading the instructions and learning from God's Word what is important in this life. I know that brother Tony has entered in to that house not made with hands eternal in the heavens. We will all be with him before we know it, and all will be perfect. God bless you all and I pray that the sweet Holy Spirit delights to dwell with and bless each one of you during this time of sorrow.

Dear Betty Ann, Michael, Andrew and families. I was so saddened to read in the paper that Tony had passed. Jerry passed Sept.21, 2009 and our oldest son, Michael passed July 16, 2014. Perhaps Jerry and Tony have already greeted over there and caught up on old times. Tony was a special person. He always seemed to be happy, laughing and joking, he was a great man, RIP Tony. Take care Betty Ann, I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I would love to see you again.

I will always remember our "uncle" Tony. Being new to Asheville some 30 tears ago, Tony was first Southern man I had met. Boy, sparks flew. But over the years Tony finally accepted me as a southerner. I saw the love he showed for people. He cared. We felt as Tony was apart of our family. He always said"stop on over for a cup of coffee" anytime to all he ran into you. You know, I never did, so Tony we will have that cup of coffee next time I see you, guaranteed!
You will be missed by all of us.
