Francis B. Dessoye Jr., 73 of Pittston, passed away Thursday morning, Feb.24, 2022, at Allied Services Hospice, Meade Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Francis B. Sr. and Marie Herron Dessoye.
Fran was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1966, King's College, Class of 1970, earning his bachelor's degree in history, and the University of Scranton, earning his master's degree in rehab counseling. He was employed as a claims adjudicator for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor until his retirement.
Fran was an avid baseball fan, especially the Philadelphia Phillies.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, the former Mary Beth Thomas, Pittston; daughters, Caron Dessoye and her husband, Eric Loyack, Denton, Texas; brother, Peter Dessoye and his wife, Joan, Niles, Ill.; and his sister, Ann Kashatus, and her husband, Pete, Charlottesville, Va.; and nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Fran's life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Irene Raeder Community Center, 476 Pollock Drive, Brooks Estates, Pittston. Fran's family request that for those attending the service, casual attire to be worn as well as face masks, regardless of vaccination status.
