Michael Potsko Obituary
Born in Ashley on March 5, 1956, he was a son of the late Andrew and Edna Sosnowski Potsko. Educated in Hanover schools, he was a graduate of the former Hanover High School. He was a member of St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre.
Prior to his disability in Sept. 2005, Michael was employed by King Fifth Wheel of Mountain Top for more than 26 years.
He is remembered by family and friends as being a devoted husband and father. Enjoying the outdoors, he was an avid gardener, and could often be found in his yard tending to his plants. "The Mayor" as he was also known to some, always had time to stop and talk. Michael loved his "other kids," the family's cats.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith Janowski, in 1989.
Surviving are his wife of 31 years, the former Elaine M. Gaughan, at home; his precious daughter, Erica, Forty Fort; brother, Andrew T. Potsko and his wife, Debra, Wilkes-Barre; several nieces nephews; and his "kids" including, Itsy, Bitsy, Spider, Peanut and Phil.
Funeral services for Michael will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Monday from John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., North Wilkes-Barre, followed by services at 10 a.m. in St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary John Scharrer, his pastor, officiating. Interment will follow with committal services in the chapel of Maple Hill Cemetery, East St. Mary's Road, Hanover Township.
Relatives and friends may join his family for visitation and remembrances from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the Luzerne County SPCA, Fox Hill Road, Plains Township, PA 18705.

Oh my, all I can say is that I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. I'm also sorry that when my daughter and I visited Scranton University we did not make time to visit and meet you the weekend of April 2nd. I look at Michael's picture and all I ever remember was fun, fun, fun in Ashley during my youth. I spent most of my summers in Ashley with my mother's dear cousins Judy, Andy and Mike! I have some of the fondest memories there. It's so unfortunate that we did not stay in touch and so very unfortunate that we did not know that Michael had passed. I'm deeply sorry for your loss and truly wish that we had met. I know my parents were there to visit a few times and I'm sure they are so sad as well. Thinking of you all and wishing you all peace!
