Michael J. Sukiennik, 77, of Waymart, died Monday, March 15, 2021, at Allied Hospice Center.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Micheal J. and Verna Mae Blaker Sukiennik. A graduate of Scranton Central High School, he attended the University of Scranton and graduated from the IBM School, Scranton. In his early years he was quite a bowler, earning a patch for the 7-10 split. Before his retirement, he was employed by Pennsylvania American Water Company.
Married to Jane Siptroth Sukiennik for 51 years, they lived at Elk Lake, Waymart. Mike was the first to have the largest and only pontoon boat on his beloved Elk Lake. They also took the boat to Canada, where they camped and cruised the St. Lawrence River. They traveled to many countries and made many new friends. If there is a casino in Heaven, Mike will be there!
Mike's family would like to thank Dr. Ferdinand Manahan and his office staff, Geisinger CMC doctors and nurses for their kindness and treatment during his extended stay, to Melissa LaPorte from Geisinger for her years of diabetes guidance and also to Allied Hospice for all the kindness and compassionate care in his final stage of his journey.
Also surviving are sister-in-law and husband, Marge and Ken Naegeli; aunt, Martha Fries; cousins, Joe Sukenick, John and Bernie Soroka; Carol and Bill Hurley; Dianne Lucas; Elaine Lucas; Vonnie Sobiech; Craig Fries; June Fries Dreger; Tammy Hurley; Joellen Hurley and Bill Hurley.
