It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr. Susann Salansky Apgar Meurer who peacefully departed from this world on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2023.
She leaves behind a legacy of 64 years filled with love, wisdom and cherished memories.
Born Dec. 7, 1958, she was the daughter of Paul Salansky and the late Sue Carol Salansky and sister of the late Jane Salansky Onzik.
Susann graduated from the Lake-Lehman High School, participating in field hockey, chorus and playing saxophone in the band. She went onto the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and then worked as a pharmacist in Prince Divine Hospital, Turbotville, and Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. While at Mercy Hospital, Dr. George Moses inspired her to attend medical school at the University of New England. She was a dedicated physician for 30 years in West Virginia, retiring from the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
Susann touched the lives of many with her kindness, unwavering faith and thoughtfulness. Her strength and resilience were a guiding light, inspiring those around her to meet life's challenges with grace.
She shared an unbreakable bond with her family and friends and her warmth made gatherings unforgettable. Susann was a firm believer in embracing everyday moments, and to cherish the time you have with loved ones. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reading and spending time with her pets.
She also looked forward to road trips to Pennsylvania to visit her dad on the farm, which was her peaceful place. Her openness, positive demeanor and sense of humor brought joy to all who had privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her generosity, showing us the value of compassion.
Susann is survived by her husband, Dr. Dennis Meurer; sons, Carlton (Shelby) and Dr. John (Meghan) Apgar; granddaughters, Nora and Emily Apgar; father, "Pat"; brothers, Paul "PJ" (Stacie) Salansky; and David Onzik, who will carry forward her legacy with gratitude.
Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts and continue to inspire us.

So sorry to hear of Susann´s passing. May God give you peace during this difficult time. We spent so much time together when we were young. Many family reunions at your Grandmothers house. Playing in the barn, riding in the hay wagons and the back of the pickup. Cousins that have lost touch. Rest in Peace.

I will never forget you. We became fast friends at work. You were such a support to me during waves of work stress. You held my newborn and fed my family. You shared stories of your children (you were always so proud of them). You watched my children grow (asking/curious about their lives). You were caring and could find the humor in most things. Our house parties, lunches, celebrations..... you were a part of much of that for so long. You lived and loved BIG. Farewell, fly high, until we meet again.

R.I.P. Susann. I'll never forget the all good times we had at your house sleigh riding when we were kids and the fun we all had in Girl Scouts together.
