Kathi and Family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time. I first met Jim when he was commander of the Marysville unit and worked with him until I retired. He was a dedicated military man who always made time for his family. He did a lot for the Kansas National Guard for which we will forever be indebted. The medical battles in his later life was a testimony to his perseverance and drive. May God be with you and your family.

We are so sorry for your loss. Gen. Rueger will always be remembered in Pratt and by us for his assistance in getting our new ball complex started. Whenever we visit the complex we will think of him and his generosity in helping the City of Pratt. He was a good man.

I was saddened upon hearing the news about General Rueger. There was no finer man or officer that I have ever served under. It was an honor to work for him and a pleasure to know you and the family. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the services but you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Maj.Gen.Rueger was the best leader that the KSARNGUS ever had and I was proud to serve under him from 27 Aug 1980 til he retired in 1999. He was a leader for his soldiers and not just use his position to push them around. I'm going to miss his friendly face.
See you in Heaven, Sir!

We are so sorry to learn of Jim's passing away. When we lived in Marysville years ago, I always enjoyed seeing you at school and community functions. Then when Dennis and I were married I was surprised to find out that Dennis had sold you a generator. (also that Denise had worked for Jim) It is a sad thing when cancer takes so many good people! God Bless you and your family. BARBARA AND DENNIS HUTCHINSON

For several years, I worked with Jim's son John. It was great to share stories about his dad. We didn't talk about him in terms of being the general. We shared stories of Beattie, the little town where his family had lived for generations. At a picnic, I finally met Jim Rueger who shared stories of my aunts and uncles who went to school with him in Beattie. They were cousins so he knew all about them. He told me about my favorite uncle who died when he was twenty-one, how he was a wild and crazy kinda of guy. Later, we'd meet in a grocery story, and I'd tell him this aunt was sick or this uncle had died up in Lincoln at the hospital. He knew his family and friends from Beattie. Now it seems fitting that he's going the be buried among all folks that were a part of his life.

Dear Mrs. Rueger
Please accept my sincere condolences on the passing of your husband. I had the pleasure of serving with the General on the NGAUS Board of Directors. He was a wonderful friend and a great American. The contribution he made to the NGAUS made it a better organization. May his soul rest in peace.

Kat...what a tremendous ride for the past 15 years! The only thing I would change is the pain and suffering Jim went through, but we know he's probably hitting golf balls right about now. You know I'll always be right here and how very much I love you..until we have another Ethel and Lucy adventure...Dawn
