Jacquelyn Paige Carter-Katool

Jacquelyn Paige Carter-Katool, born on October 23, 1952, passed peacefully from this life and into the arms of a loving Savior on February 13, 2021. She grew up in the Forest Hill community of the Jackson, Mississippi, metro area.

Jacqui was the queen of unforgettable creative phrases and had many crowns to prove it. After graduating from Forest Hill High School in 1970, Jacqui attended Hinds Community College, then Mississippi State University, after which she worked for Southern Farm Insurance Company. However, it was her career as homemaker and devoted mother that offered her the daily opportunity to serve others, and also made her the happiest. After her children were grown and married, Jacqui pursued other interests to include exquisite embroidery, jewelry design, seamstress and helping others create beautiful spaces within their own homes through an interior design business.

When her health began to decline several years ago, it was her quick wit and ability to laugh at herself which gave her the strength to live with grace. One year ago, she was diagnosed with a severe fatal brain disease. Always a voracious reader, Jacqui never stopped learning. Even as her ability to participate physically with life's simplest tasks decreased, Jacqui will be remembered for her innate ability to laugh at herself and her indomitable sense of humor. She was an encouragement to all she encountered and the definition of a good friend. Jacqui's love of life was never diminished, leaving behind a legacy of truth and beauty for what it means to live life richly.

Tremendous gratitude for Chris Weems taking care of everything during the past year, along with Whitney Wages as devoted and special live-in caregiver these last months.

Jacqui is preceded in death by her mother, Lelia Frances "Frankie" Hodges and by her brother, Charles "Tippy" Carter. She is survived by her daughter, Jordan Katool-Massad (Jodain Massad), and their children, (her grandchildren), to include Phoenix, Griffin, and Iris Massad and son, Kahlil (Calissa), their children, (her grandchildren) Logan and Leleia Caroline.

There will be a service at Sebrell Funeral Home for close friends Saturday, February 2/20/21 at 1:00 pm which will be streamed live on Jacqui Katool Facebook page and can be viewed later.
