John Ingram Obituary

John Houston Ingram

Jackson - John was born to Fred and Maridel Ingram in Jackson, MS on November 23, 1979, and chose to go home on January 5, 2017. John grew up in Jackson having attended Murrah and graduated from Jackson Prep ('98 ). He played soccer for both schools and was selected a class favorite his senior year at Prep. He was a graduate of Mississippi State University with a bachelor's degree in psychology and was a devoted member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Upon graduation he worked in patient care at the Mississippi State Hospital for six years. He left the hospital and was a part of the original Parlor Market restaurant group where he served as the house manager. After six years he moved to Hal and Mal's and worked there for almost two years. John was an avid MSU fan and loved sports in general, and was passionate about Arsenal soccer.

John grew up in First Baptist Church, Jackson where he became a Christian. For the last several years Grace City Church has been a special and meaningful church family for him. In 2009 he became interested in short term mission work and went to Guinea where he had a very rewarding experience not only with the local people but also with the missionary family. He subsequently made two trips to Cambodia working with teens. John was a very caring and loving person who was loved by all those who knew him. Some comments made by friends: he was a shining light in Jackson; he always had a hug and a smile for you; he was the best friend you could ever ask for. John is survived by his parents and sisters, Julie Moody (Stewart) of Statesboro, GA, and Jodie Allen of Brandon, MS (Jeremy). He will be missed by his aunts and uncles, Doug Thornton, Mitch Clemmer (Sherri), David Clemmer (Liz), and Steven Clemmer. He loved his cousins, Kyle, Kelly, Chelcie, Seth, Sully, Kristin, Taylor, John, and Shelby. He also adored his nephews and nieces, Tyler, Rosemary, Trace and Ellie.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 and at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at First Baptist Church, Jackson Sanctuary. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. A private burial service will be held at Lakewood Memorial on Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace City Church, 4785 I-55 North, Suite 109, Jackson, MS 39206.

My thoughts and prayers are with your whole family. I can remember childhood Sunday school at FBJ with him all the way up to high school graduation. He was very special and loved by all. I was comforted by this verse to be away from the body is to be present with the Lord. John is at peace right now. May peace that surpasses understanding come to you in the days ahead until you see him again.
Much Love,

John's light and spirit was uniquely his own. He will continue to be loved and remembered. I always enjoyed talking to him. I could talk to him for hours about everything and he always had a big smile and a hug. He had the biggest heart. He left much too soon and will truly be missed so much. Everyone he met, he made an impact on or turned them into a friend. I recently moved out of Mississippi earlier this month and was unable to attend services in person. So, to all of John's family and loved ones: my prayers, condolences and hugs during this unbelievably sad time. Im really at a loss to find the right words to express what you all must be feeling.
May John find peace, love, and happiness in heaven.

Dear Ingram Family, my heart is broken for you and you are all in my thoughts and prayers. John was a precious young man. He and I talked often through the years when I worked at the FBCJ Christian Life Center. He was always last to come in at night for a quick work out and the last to leave. He always had a smile on his face, was loved by so many people and touched so many lives here and other parts of the world. He was a special young man and made a difference in this world. I'm looking forward to seeing him again in our eternal home. Much love.

Such a beautiful heartfelt obituary to a young man who sacrificed more of himself than most in a lifetime. Julie, be so proud of the legacy he is leaving behind for those who have benefitted from his love of life and healing. His life on Earth was short but purposeful to all who knew of his love for others.

Lovingly, Jane Sack

At a time as this there are no adequate words to express how sorry we are for the loss felt by John's departure. We know John because of our son's association with him and would run into him around town from time to time. He was always so friendly. His absence in this place will be felt by many. Our prayers are with each of you, that you will find comfort in the memories that you hold.

Despite the vast difference in age, our friendship was immediate and is everlasting. After playing a set at Hal and Mal's the first thing I wanted to know was what John's thoughts were about the music. I've never known a more genuine, caring, loving and loved person. John was a young man with an old soul. Sometimes they go home early. Save me a place at the bar,Big John.We have lots of football to talk about.
