Lee Russell Kendrick, 81, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015. Visitation will be held from 12pm - 2pm Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Jackson First, 6339 Hwy 18, Jackson, MS with funeral services at 2pm. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Pearl.

Mr. Kendrick had a great love for his family. He was a man with a servant's heart, caring for each person he came in contact with. He loved his church and his pastors. He was currently a member of Move Church in Pearl. In his spare time he also loved to fish. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Kendrick was preceded in death by his parents, William David and Lillie Mae Kendrick; brothers, William David, Jr., James Lee and James Bundy Kendrick; sisters, Christine McGriff, Gladys Jones, Marie Sullivan and Louise Garner.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Merle Kendrick; daughters, Patsy Merle Weeks, Marilyn Annette McElhenny (Glenn) and Wanda Jean May (Bill); grandchildren, Jennifer Weeks Johnson (Shane), Jessica Weeks Johnston (Paul), Daniel McElhenny (Melany), Jonathan Lee McElhenny (Laura), Aaron May, Lauren May and Katie Leigh Ann May; great-grandchildren, Trevor Hatley, Briana and Shana Johnson, Brady and Julia Johnston, and Lauren, Alex, Emma and Samuel Lee McElhenny; and his beloved dog, Buddy.

I have prayed more in the last week, then I have in many weeks before this. I know many have sought answers, prayed for the family, investigators, and for Mr. Kendrick. Please know, that even in his death, he has made my desire to seek out the Lord stronger.
I have read more bible verses and played Christian radio more often and louder each day in the past week.

Please remember, even in tragedy, God has used Mr. Kendrick's life to draw people nearer to the Lord.

Memories, there are tons of them. Going to the Kendricks house after a church service so our parents could spend time visiting and drinking coffee while we played with the girls, good times. We aren't promised tomorrow so we are told to be ready, should Christ come today. This man was ready, at any given moment you would not have to worry about that, he was ready. He loved God and he loved his family. I know he will be missed so much by his family and friends but I know he is rejoicing in Heaven now, without a doubt. My prayers are for you all Merle, Patsy, Marilyn, & Wanda.

I did not know Mr Kendrick nor do I know any of the family but I saw the desperate search for him on facebook. I could tell by his picture he was a gentle soul.
