My heart was so saddened when I was told a few weeks ago about Bro Rice. I worked at River Oaks when my husband took ill. Bro Rice came to see me daily and pray for him. He was such a delight and I loved him so much. He was such a wonderful man and a man of God. May God continue to Bless his family. Sue Staton-Nester DeKalb, Ms

We first met Bro. Rice when my Mother and Father purchased a home on Old Country Club Road. They were Mary Jane (Granny) and James (Pop) Russell. It was Pop's treat for our kids, to buy a lot of chocolate candy whenever we were coming home from R. C. Mom liked to just visit with R. C. and the other in the store. It was a blessing for us that just prior to Pop passing that we met Bro. Rice at Crossroad Baptist Church and when Pop did die he consented to do the service. I know that Mom and Pop held Bro. Rice in high regard.

To have known Brother R.C. Rice, a humble and Godly man in every aspect, was an honor. From selling the best bacon in the world at Pearl Grocery to his officiating at my father's and brother's services, he met my every need. In my darkest days, he could always bring a smile to my face. My prayers are with Miss Barbara, Sherrie, Pam and other family members. As I told Miss Barbara at the funeral home, I am convinced that R.C. stood for "Real Christian" and that he was. Rest in Peace Brother R.C. - you will always have a special place in my heart.

It was an honor to know RC. Theres not enough words to describe him. He was an example of the finest Christian. There arent many like RC. He loved God, family, and friends. Our family has shared great mermories and sad ones with him for fifty five years. The salvation of our father was example of one. We loved Pearl Grocery. I think a lot of times folks just went in to talk with Rc and Mr. Moore. As u pass the old store now- we still call it RC's place. You might walk in a stranger however you walked out a friend. Barbara and girls knowing your beloved RC was a warrior for God at all times help you through the tough days. Heaven gain its finest angel.

What a happy place Pearl Grocery was. R.C. was the main reason for that. Never have I met a more caring and compassionate person. He will be missed by the many lives he has touched.

My cousin, R.C, was a very good Christian man, and I always looked up to and admired him. I usually saw him at the annual Rice reunion and our class reunions in Harrisville. He spoke at the funeral of my sister, Gelene, and I remember what a comfort his words were. His presence will be deeply missed in our family. My sympathy and prayers go out to his immediate family.
