Robert Auston Cole

Robert Auston Cole, age 51, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010.
He was born June 17, 1958 in Greenville, MS to George Auston and Doris Bingham Cole and was of the Church of God faith. Robert was a 1976 graduate of Wingfield High School and maintained a successful sales career throughout the years while working with different Jackson automobile dealerships, Kentwood Water, and Realty Executives. He received numerous awards for his sales abilities because of his outstanding personality. After retirement, Robert found his niche in furniture refinishing and antique restoration, operating a business out of Flora.
Robert was a very talented athlete throughout his life. He shared his athletic abilities by dedicating much of his time coaching through the Madison Ridgeland Youth Club. He won many titles in this role including taking his son's team all the way to the World Series. Robert was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing at the Spillway, playing golf, cooking for his family and friends, gardening and music. His musical talent was instilled in him during childhood by his family and growing up in the Delta and New Orleans areas. His Family settled in Jackson where Robert has maintained many lifetime friends. He loved playing the guitar and singing and celebrated his life through stories and songs. He will always be remembered this way.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Cole; parents, George Auston and Doris Bingham Cole; children, Shannon Cole Toth and husband, Michael, Wesley Cole, Jeffery Cole; their mother, Karen Flynn Cole, Dan Horn and wife, Amber, Ana Horn Ashley and husband, Ken, Andy Horn; grandchildren, Palmer and Amelia Horn; siblings, Randy Cole, Alisa Cole, Keri Cole Fedrick and husband, Jonathan, Alana Cole Phelps and husband, Robbie; nephew, Brady Cole; and nieces, Addison and Sydney Phelps.
The family will receive friends today at 1:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Flora, 102 Jackson Street, Flora, MS with a funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm in that same location. Interment will immediately follow in Flora City Cemetery, Flora, MS. Stricklin-King Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
