TURKEY, NC — George Anthony Pinyatello, 79, of 351 Thomson Ave., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at Upstate Community Hospice House, Landrum, SC. He was born in Bowdens, NC. Parents were Anthony George Pinyatello and Shaw Pinyatello Bryant. He fought a good fight with pancreatic cancer with courage, dignity, and faith in God.
A Celebration of Life will be on Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m., at Royal-Hall Funeral Home Chapel followed by visitation. A private burial will be held at the Thomson Family Cemetery at a later date.
He was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He served the Lord as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and other church committees. He retired as Purchasing Agent with NC Justice Academy after 34 years. He served the community through the Sampson County Board of Education, SC Advisory Board of Education, SC Board of Health, and SECU Board. He received the Long Leaf Pine Award. He enjoyed talking about cars, fishing, and hunting. But more than that he loved to talk about life experiences hoping to help others. He lived life with an attitude of gratitude. He truly loved and served God, his family and others.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Mae; his children: Elizabeth King (Billy) of Turkey, NC, Amy Lennon (Ewen) of Campobello, SC.; grandchildren: Zachary King (Maranda) of Apopka, FL., Maegan Lennon, and Ava Lennon of Campobello, SC.; great-grandchildren: Zara King and Crystalyn Garcia of Apopka, FL.; sister, Jane Boose (Billy) of Turkey, NC.; sister-in-law, Peg Hartman of Chesapeake, VA.; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family extends gratitude for the compassionate medical care given by Dr. Palmer-CMC, Dr. Fleury-SRMC, and Dr. Sochat-SMOC.
