Samuel Allen Obituary
Fort Collins - Sam Allen, 17, died in a tragic accident alongside his father, Joe Allen, on June 6, 2018. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on July 25, 2000 to Carol Bradley MacLeod and Robert Joseph Allen.
Sam had just completed his junior year at Rocky Mountain High School. In summer 2017, he worked for the Larimer County Conservation Corps, which led to an internship with the Forestry Department at CSU. He planned to major in Natural Sciences at CSU with the intention of becoming a Park Ranger.
Sam was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hiking, snowboarding, golfing, diving and photography. He was also a junior grand champion of Sei Shin Kan Karate.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Berniece Bradley. He is survived by and lovingly and affectionately remembered by his mother, Carol MacLeod and stepfather, David MacLeod; stepmother, Hillary Allen; sister, Ellie Beyer-Allen; maternal grandfather, Wendell Bradley; paternal grandparents Jeanette Allen and Dan Allen, Sr.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Sam was a kind, considerate and amazingly sweet young man. His sense of humor was contagious. He lit up the lives of all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life for Sam will be held under the north shelter of Spring Canyon Community Park at the end of Overland Trail, on June 20, 2018 at 4pm.
A memorial fund is being established in honor of Sam's memory. Gifts may be directed to Carol and David MacLeod - Public Service Credit Union, PO Box 5238, Englewood, CO 80155, to provide grants to children in need of vision therapy.

Sometimes, I wonder about the people who are so beautiful, both in and out. I never met Sam, but I knew Joe and Carol. The goodness and compassion for others lived in their hearts and grew their spirits, and they passed it on to Sam. Perhaps, God just loved them so much He took two home. People think that life is about success, money, power, or fame. But it is not. Sam and Joe knew its true meaning and their lives are extraordinary lights for others to see by.

Though I didn't know Sam, it was with heavy heart that I learned about your tragedy in the local paper at the time ( a year ago). And recently by chance, my son, who is the same age as Sam, met David at JJ's gas station. My son is a Park Ranger this summer at Horsetooth Reservoir and encountered David who spoke to him and explained that my son looked like Sam who also wanted to be a Park Ranger. This encounter was deeply moving to my son who is very compassionate. Im sure he will never forget the encounter. And I think how my son and Sam might have crossed paths, pursuing the same career.
My heart goes out to you all as you go through everyday missing Sam. I can only try to imagine what that must be like. And though we've not met, I wish peace for you and your family.

Sam
Was a gentle soul. He was methodical and genuine in his own right! Cared deeply about the enviroment and helped those who could not help themselves. Believed in helping his fellow man when they were down. Not because it was popular, but because it was the correct thing to do!
