July 29, 1931 - April 29, 2025
Alma A. Dostal, 93, of Fremont, Neb., passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Nebraska Medicine. Alma was born on July 29, 1931, in Howells, Neb., to John and Leena (Dirkschneider) Mendlik.
She attended Olean Grade School and graduated from Dodge High School. She married Francis R. Dostal on October 29, 1948, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, Neb. They were married for 35 years before Francis' passing in 1984.
Alma was a housewife and also worked at the Columbus Public Library for 20 years. Alma was adventurous and loved to spend time at the cabin in Minnesota, in her RV, and at Big Stone Lake. She also enjoyed fishing, dancing, crafting, and quilting. Alma was a member of the FOE Eagles Club in Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Francis; son, George Dostal; grandson, Dylon; granddaughter, Misty; and five siblings.
Alma is survived by her sons, James Dostal of Louisville, Neb., Bill (Kim Albin) Dostal of Portland, Ore., and Frank Dostal of Columbus; daughters, Dorothy Heffernan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Joan (Don) Dohmen of Humphrey, Neb.; twin sister, Delma (Norbert) Pieper of Bennington, Neb.; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 2, 2025, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Friday prior to the service, at Moser's. Interment at St. Bonaventure Cemetery Columbus. Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Eagles Club. Online condolences may be left at www.mosermemorialchapels.com.
