CHESAPEAKE, VA - Ervin M. Sindelar, 83,
of Chesapeake, Virginia, died Monday, January 8, 2024, at his home in Chesapeake. Ervin was surrounded by his son and daughter-in-law - Tim and Audrey - along with their children, Gabriel and Abigail Sindelar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton, Nebraska with Fr. Gregory Carl celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Clarkson National Cemetery in Clarkson, Nebraska. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, with a 7 p.m. vigil at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus and will resume an hour prior to services Thursday at the church in Stanton.
Ervin was born Oct. 19, 1940, in Stanton County, Nebraska to Mike and Vlasta (Dvorak) Sindelar. He graduated from Howells High School and attended Universal Trade School in Omaha. On June 25, 1964, Ervin was united in marriage to D'Ete Wurdeman in Lindsay. The couple made their home north of Clarkson. After retiring from farming, they moved to Clarkson and spent a short time in Columbus.
Ervin worked diligently as a farmer and had a love for farming even after retirement. He showed this by helping many others in the farming industry. He also enjoyed flying his airplane, collecting antique cars and tractors, and visiting museums throughout the U.S.
Ervin is survived by a daughter, Tracey (Wayne) Lorenzen of Omaha; two sons, Tim (Audrey) Sindelar of Chesapeake, Va., and Darren (Beth) Sindelar of Wakefield; grandsons Lee Guthrie of Alexandria, Va., Josh Sindelar of Chesapeake, Va., Brian Sindelar of Chesapeake, Va., Gabriel Sindelar of Chesapeake, Va., Mason Sindelar of Vermillion, S.D., Zachary (Kenna) Lorenzen of Grandview, Mo., and Benjamin (Claire) Lorenzen of Omaha; granddaughters London (Sam) Wallin of Sioux Falls, S.D., Alexus Sindelar of Vermilion, S.D., and Abigail Sindelar of Chesapeake, Va. ; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Lucas and Nathan Lorenzen of Grandview, Mo.; sisters Marion Ring (Dale) Sheridan, WY., Veronica (Don) Flamme of Lincoln, NE. and Michael (Lois) Sindelar of Howells, NE.
Ervin was proceeded in death by D'Ete Sindelar his wife, his parents Mike and Vlasta Sindelar, and great-grandson, Brent Kevin Sindelar.
