AARON MASUR Obituary

AARON THOMAS MASUR, 27, of Memphis, TN, died January 14, 2012 after a long struggle. Aaron was the loving son of Dr. Frank T. Masur and Dr. Linda M. Vierling. He is survived by his parents, two sisters, Lena Masur and Elise Masur; grandfather, Robert Vierling, and aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends throughout the country. Aaron was a genuine thinker with degrees in physics, chemistry and philosophy. He had a penetrating mind that never stopped questioning. At an intellectual level, Aaron was fascinated by the interconnection between theoretical physics and philosophy. At a practical level, he was a devoted lover of stray dogs and is directly responsible for finding homes for the many pets he leaves behind. Bear, Earnest and Nana, are in many ways living testaments to his kindness. As a tribute to Aaron’s memory and all of the dogs that he would have saved, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to no-kill animal shelters. Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial service to be held Saturday, January 21 from 3-5 p.m. at Shelby Farms Visitors Center. Memorial Park Funeral Home, "Behind the stone wall", 901-767-8930. Condolences may be offered at www.MemorialParkOnline.com

Aaron Was a really amazing person, I remember the first time i met him in Newark, there was a ton of people in this apartment and i didnt know anyone! so i just sitting on the couch all by myself, and he came and sat next to me and introduced himself, and ever since then we were friends. He was so kind, smart and always there if you needed someone to talk to. Another memory i have is being with him and he found a praying mantis(and i am TERRIFIED of them and grasshoppers!) and he asked me to hold on to it for him so we could let it go in a better place, even though i was terrified...i did it,and we went to a park and let it go. He was a WONDERFUL person and i'll never forget him. My heart goes out to his whole family and if there is anything i can do,please let me know. Love you Aaron!! <3
