Sandra Williams Obituary

SANDRA GAYLE WILLIAMS, 66, of Memphis, retired insurance professional, passed away February 28, 2007 at Saint Francis Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born in San Antonio, TX, Sandra was the eldest child of the late Mary Ellen Roberts Harless and Adair Travis Harless. Her greatest accomplishment was being a wonderful mother to daughter, Traci Williams Taylor of Knoxville, TN; and sons, Hugh R. "Randy" Williams and Stephen M. Williams, both of Memphis. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, David Taylor; daughters-in-law, Fanny C. Williams and Jennifer Williams; her grandchildren, Brittney, Cynthia, Christopher, Mikaela, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Haleigh, Victor, and Jazmynn; her sisters, Karen E. Harless and Patricia R. Harless of San Antonio, TX, Mary H. Griffin of Bay City, TX; brothers, Travis Harless of Pasadena, TX and Sherman Harless of San Antonio, TX; mother and father-in-law, Evelyn and Albert Mullins of Germantown; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A "Celebration of Life" gathering for family and friends will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joni and Friends, 733 Dameron Avenue, Knoxville, TN 637921. These donations will be used in conjunction with the Family Retreat program, a camp environment for families affected by disability, where they can find hope and get respite from everyday life, and where daughter, Traci volunteers. With all of the love in our hearts and souls, we are proud for the battle she fought, and are thankful that she is in heaven with our Lord. To Randy, Traci, Stephen

Years ago, business would take me to Memphis where I had opportunities to visit your family when you were quite young. I always left knowing I had been surrounded by good people. Your mother raised you well.

Sandra's sense of humor - not just being funny, but having the ability to take whatever was dished out without becoming bitter or defeated - is foremost in my memories of her. You are indeed fortunate to have been raised by her. Pass these traits on to your own children and you will have done your job well.

To Karen, Patricia, Travis and Sherman

For people to endure this once is heart breaking; twice is unimaginable. I extend my deepest sympathies to each of you. Sandra left knowing she was loved. That is everything we can do.

Dear
Randy, Traci, Stephen and families, also brothers and sisters, May you each find comfort in knowing Wednesday February 28 was Sandra's "Hallelujah Day". Her joy is full and her body is perfect and she can see the glory of her savior in heaven. You have many sweet memories to cherish. Remember, we never see those we love for the last time. May God Bless each of you. May you feel the special love Sandra had for you (her treasures). Her love is always with you. My sympathy and love.
Barbara....I was blessed to have Sandra as my cousin. John 14:2-6

Fanny, David, and Jennifer,

We would be remiss if we didn't thank you for the compassion, concern, and help you gave our sister. Sandra loved each of you very much and we know you loved her too which was evident by all that you did for her. Family is very important and we are glad that God brought you into ours.

Dear Randy, Traci, and Stephen,

Words cannot express how much we all miss your Mother and our sister. She was a wonderful person and role model to each of us throughout the years. Her generosity, love, sense of humor, and kindred spirit has been an inspiration to all of us in the good times as well as the bad ones. God blessed us for many years by allowing her to be our sister and friend. Each of you and all of her grandchildren were her pride and joy and that was obvious to all who knew your Mother. And while God has called her home and we will all miss her presence here on earth, we know that she will never hurt again and is in a much better place.

We love you dearly and will always be here for you.

Aunt Karen, Uncle Travis, Aunt Tricia, Uncle Sherman, and Aunt Mary

Birth is a beginning
and death a destination
And life is a journey:
From childhood to maturity
and youth to age;
From innocence to awareness
and ignorance to knowing;
From foolishness to desecration
and then perhaps to wisdom.
From weakness to strength or
from strength to weakness
and often back again;
From health to sickness
and we pray to health again.
From offense to forgiveness
from loneliness to love
from joy to gratitude
from pain to compassion
from grief to understanding
from fear to faith.
From defeat to defeat to defeat
until looking backwards or ahead
We see that victory lies not
at some high point along the way
but in having made the journey
step by step
a sacred pilgrimage.
Birth is a beginning
and death a destination
And life is a journey;
A sacred journey to life everlasting
