I had the privilege of working with Chef Harold at The Old Drovers Inn in Dover Plains, NY during 1974-75 when I was a culinary student attending the Culinary Institute of America. He was very kind and patient and taught me much about classical cuisine. 50 years ago.... He made a difference in my life. Thank you Chef.

Our heart felt sympathies to Cynthia and her family. We first met Harold 20 years ago when my husband (then fiancée) brought me to the Crystal Quail for Valentines. We became faithful customers and through the years, good friends. We would spend many evenings at the restaurant, long after our meal was done visiting with Harold and Cynthia, trading family stories, talking politics, and receiving excellent advice from them! They got to know our children as we brought them to sample Harolds excellent cooking. Harold and Cynthia were more than restauranteurs to us and we kept in touch after they retired. We will miss Harold and his gentle humor. We will cherish memories of our visits and being serenaded by his guitar after dinner. Cynthia our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am saddened to learn of Harold's death. Harold was a dear friend when my family and I were neighbors. He, as is well known ,was one of the world's great chefs. I have wonderful memories of dining in his restaurant, and stl think about the delicious roasted quail. My sympathies to Cynthia and his family.
