Concord, NH — Janice K. Batula, 81, of Concord, NH passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, September 21st at the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH after a decade long, very courageous and inspiring battle with Breast Cancer.

Janice was born in Burnham PA, the Daughter of Elmer and Geraldine Hummel before moving to Harrisburg with her family where she lived until moving to Merrimack, NH in 1975. Janice enjoyed a great childhood with her two Sisters at her side in Harrisburg and graduated from John Harris High School in 1958.

Janice met the love of her life Peter Batula while working at the Rea and Derrick soda fountain in Harrisburg, PA in 1955 at the age of 15. A few years later, Peter and Janice were married at a joint wedding with her Sister Sandy in 1958 in Harrisburg, where they began their family. In 1975 Peter was promoted and transferred to New Hampshire with the HJ Heinz Company. Once settled in Merrimack, Janice quickly established herself within the local community based on her amazing devotion to God and her commitment to her church and her daily commitment to her family.

She worked at St. James Pre-School as a Kindergarten teacher's aide for 27 years where she was lovingly known as Mrs. B. There has never been a Wife/Mother/Grandmother/Great Grandmother more proud of or committed to her family than Janice.

Janice is survived and loved beyond words by her three Children, daughter Carrie Morris of Concord, son Jeff Batula (Alyssa) of Concord, and daughter Jennifer Collins (Robert) of Sherman, TX; and her sister Karen Carpenter of Harrisburg, PA. In addition to her children, Janice has 7 cherished grandchildren, Derek Batula (Lauren), David Batula (Holly), Amanda Lacroix (Zackary), Shannen Batula, Madeline Collins, Audrey Collins, and Robert Collins; as well as 7 precious great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Peter Batula, sister Sandra Sowers, and son in law Thomas Morris.

The family will receive visitors Monday, September 27th 10:00-11:00am at Phaneuf Funeral Homes, 172 King Street in Boscawen. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel.
