Jonathan Fowler Obituary

CONTOOCOOK - Jonathan "Skip" Fowler, formerly of Contoocook, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, and went to be with His Lord whom he loved. He was 59 years old.

He was the son of the late Wesley and Margaret Fowler.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 34 years, Renee Fowler of Contoocook. He is also survived by his children, Jared and Alesia (Fowler) Beecher of Nanticoke, N.Y.; granddaughter, Marissa Beecher of Nanticoke, N.Y.; Tim and Theresa Fowler of Monroe, Va., Kevin Fowler of Arlington, Va. and Jeremy Fowler of Contoocook, and Lynchburg, Va. Skip is survived by his sisters and brother-in-laws, David and Carolyn (Fowler) Holland of Crownsville MDd. and Ken and Judy (Fowler) Proulx, of Carlisle, Mass. He also has several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him greatly.

Skip was born on June 2nd, 1954 in Brockton, Mass. He grew up in Holbrook and completed his schooling there. As a computer field engineer for over 30 years for Unisys, Siemens, ATOS, and currently Fujitsu, he was widely known for his expertise and excellent customer service. As a young teenager he attended a Billy Graham Crusade where he heard about his need for a Savior from his sin. He responded when he recognized his need for a Savior, by going forward that evening. Skip asked Jesus into his heart, and was saved. He was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church in Concord. On many Sunday mornings he was the kind, smiling face that would greet people at the door. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Throughout his life he enjoyed traveling, camping, taking drives, hiking in the mountains, going to the ocean and spending any time he could with his family. Skip's character was that of a man of humility who loved God, his family and other people. He would put the needs of others before himself, and always did so with a cheerful demeanor. He was a hard worker with any task at hand, and made new friends wherever he went. His smile was memorable and could cheer up anyone on the worst of days. Skip was a man who was willing to sacrifice his time, energy and desires to help those around him in any way he could. Above all else, his love for Christ clearly shined throughout his life, and now he is in the presence of the one he loved. Although our hearts are heavy with sadness, we rejoice knowing that he is with the Lord and one day we will be reunited again.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, 80 Clinton St., Concord.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Contoocook Village Cemetery in Contoocook.

In lieu of flowers, the children are suggesting that you consider donating to the Skip Fowler Memorial Fund at giveforward.com/fundraiser/zr13/skip-fowler-memorial-fund.

The Bennett Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of the arrangements. Messages of condolence may be offered at bennettfuneral.com.

Skip was my brother Bob´s best buddy. Bob left in July of the same year. We were all in youth group together. He was a lovely funny guy. Loved to tease. And came from a lovely family. My condolences to all.

Renee and family,
We were so sorry to hear about Skip's passing though we know he is at peace with the Lord. We are sorry for the emptiness you must feel and pray for your family. You were very special to us as our paths crossed over the years. I loved having the children in Children's Choir at Penacook Bible Church all of those years ago. I am glad that he knew what it was to be a grandparent. Love, Kathy and Glenn Bacon

We were so sorry to hear of Skip's death. He was a great friend to our brother Bob who passed 7/6/13. We remember the fun times with them and send our love to family and prayers for god's peace for all who knew him.

Skip was a dear friend to all of us at the First Baptist church in Hingham. He always had a smile on his face and told lousy jokes, but we laughed anyway. We had fond memories of Skip and Carolyn who really helped us through the growing pains of the teenage years. I am deeply sorry for your loss Carolyn and family. He will be missed.

I had the privilege and pleasure to work with Jon at Atos and was so saddened to learn of his passing. I am glad I had the opportunity to attend the celebration of his life today in NH. I have responsibility leading service delivery efforts for Atos North America and after learning the very disturbing news about Jon's passing I thought about who he may have touched in his technical journey with his work family here at SIEMENS/Atos. I struggled and the list in my head kept growing so I sent the news of his passing to the entire Atos delivery team across the country and got so many TY's back for sharing from so many people in the Northeast all the way to the Pacific Northwest, all with the same message of how sad it was to learn this news and what a “great” person Jon was. I am delighted to have known Jon from a professional perspective and very grateful to have shared in the personal celebration of his life with his wonderful family speaking so highly on how much Jon meant to all of them. We should all be so lucky some day when our time has come. We were all lucky to have known Jon. May he rest in peace with a well deserved/earned rest.

I've known you for only a year but your absence feels like the loss of a long time friend. The shoes you've left behind for me to fill at work are enormous. But the void you left as a dear friend is far greater and will truley be missed for a very long time. Miss you buddy.

I had the pleasure to work with John at Citizens Bank just last week, we worked shoulder to shoulder installing the training room computers at 875 Elm. He was full of enthusiasm and smiles and we had a real blast doing the work he so loved. We chatted about our kids, common friends and joked that he has my old office and phone number at 875 Elm. We had planned to get together this week, but the Lord has called him home. It was an honor and a privilege to have known him. Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Fowler Family,

It was my great pleasure to work with Jon at Cole Haan and get to know him over time. He was not only a great asset to us as an IT specialist, but it was easily apparent that he was a fine man as well. We would often chat about children and family and all those things that make life worth living. He was an admirable man and I will remember him fondly. I send you all my deepest sympathy.

Jon was incredibly great at customer service. He was a contractor at our financial institution. If he was on the way to help, all was going to be right again.
Bless you on your next journey, Jon. God Speed.

Skip was like a brother to me growing up in the early 70's in Hingham Mass. Perhaps at an earlier age we were out to have fun and race cars but he was also one of the most caring individuals I have ever met. Many a time Skip would "shack up" at my house after an evening of exploring the south shore. He did me the ultimate honor of being in my wedding to Lynne in 1977 at the Hingham Baptist Church.
Though the years and the miles have seperated us I still feel the love of a kindred spirit.

God bless you Skip and our prayers are with you Renee.

Skip was a Godly man and a person(cousin) that I always looked up to even when I was a young child. He had a certain gentleness about him and you were instantly comfortable around him. I so loved to listen to him play the organ at our family get-togethers and how humble he was and said he couldn't play very well(but he sure could)! My last conversation with him was about a month ago and I will treasure it always. He felt more like a brother than a cousin and I thank God for allowing me the honor of knowing him. He will be missed.

Skip,
Please know that you and your family members are in my prayers as you mourn the loss of your father while celebrating the fact that he is now with the Lord. While reading the description of your Dad I was impressed with how much you are like him. May God's peace and comfort uplift and sustain you and Theresa.

We will miss Skip so much. He was such a pleasure to speak with because he was always so encouraging. Every Sunday he would ask us how Zach was doing in the Marines and would say he would continue to pray for him. He was so caring and it was obvious how much he loved his family and his Lord. We will miss welcoming guests with him at church.
