Louis A. Sillari

Concod, NH - Louis A. Sillari, 108 , a lifelong Concord resident, passed away peacefully at his home of more than 75 years on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, with his devoted son and caregiver Peter and devoted caregiver Samantha Weed at his side. He was the husband of the late Stella (Sawyer) Sillari with whom he spent 63 happy years of marriage until her passing in 2006.

He was born in Milford, NH on December 22, 1915, the son of the late Ernesto and Maria (Agremonti) Sillari. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his siblings Edward A. Sillari, Aurora (Sillari) Schinella, Peter Sillari, and Ernest Oliva.

Lou completed one year of high school before leaving to find work to help his foster family. In 2014, at the age of 99, Bishop Brady High School awarded him a long-awaited diploma.

His first job was as a dishwasher for Angelo's restaurant in downtown Concord. Lou jumped at an unexpected opportunity to enroll in a specialized 10-week evening class as a machinist which led to a job at the Samuel Eastman Company in Concord before classes even ended. This job turned into a more than 40-year career that perfectly suited his meticulous nature. One of his proudest accomplishments was keeping his promise to Stella that both children would go to college.

Confirmed at St. John the Evangelist Church in 1929, Lou's faith was strong. At age 100 he participated in the first Alpha at Christ the King Parish, remarking to Father Rich, "You are never too old to learn something new." In April 2022 Christ the King Parish recognized Lou as its oldest parishioner and shared his story in its monthly magazine.

Lou loved to learn, read, cook, entertain friends and family, walk his daily five miles until well into his 100's, watch any and all Notre Dame sporting events, care for his hard-earned home and yard and listen to music. He had a profound love for wife Stella and loved to spin her around a dance floor, make her laugh, sit on the porch with her that he, son Peter and brother-in-law Toby built, and share a daily cocktail with her. He especially enjoyed visits with his grandchildren Abi and Peter and with his many nieces, nephews and their children. Whether you knew him as Lou, Jitty, or Lou Badoo, his outlook was always positive. He was always ready for fun, had a hearty laugh and loved a good practical joke. He lived life with an open and welcoming heart and his ability to listen and show empathy was unparalleled. To know Lou was to be part of his family. Saluti!

Lou is survived by his children: Peter Sillari and his partner Iona Frajman of Larkspur, CA; Maria Sillari and her husband Gregory Wool; his grandchildren Abigail Goodman Wool and Peter Sawyer Wool, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celbrated on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:00 am at Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main Street, Concord, NH with a reception to follow.
