Rebecca Baum Obituary

Rebecca R. Baum

Ipswich, MA — After a long, vibrant, and healthy life, Rebecca "Robin" Ritchie Baum, passed peacefully on February 19, 2022, in Ipswich, MA. with caring family by her side. She was 91 years old.

Robin was born on June 30, 1930, in Glen Ridge, New Jersey to Jack and Rebecca Ritchie. During her childhood she, along with her parents, older sister Mary and younger sister Anne resided in New Jersey with memorable summers spent on Cape Cod, MA. She attended and graduated from The Rhode Island School of Design with a B.F.A. in Illustration.

In 1954 Robin met the love of her life, Robert Baum, in Marblehead MA. During their fifty-five-year marriage, they resided in Hillsboro and New Hampton, N.H. Robin and her husband Bob dedicated much of their time to raising and nurturing their five children.

Robin was employed in library services at Hillsboro-Deering Elementary School and the Gordon-Nash Library in New Hampton.

She was a member of several community organizations: The New Hampton Garden Club, The Pasquaney Snowshoe Club, The Friends of Gordon Nash Library, and The New Hampton Historical Society.

Robin radiated a warm and a kind spirit to the people in her presence. Her mind was curious, sharp, witty, and very creative. She had a great sense of humor.

Throughout much of her life she was physically active in such sports as golfing, skiing, and swimming. Robin enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading a variety of novels, solving jigsaw and crossword puzzles, and playing bridge. When one observes her paintings, drawings, and hooked rugs, it is evident that she was also a talented artist.

Robin is survived by her children and their spouses, Sarah Baum, Steve Baum, David Baum and Deborah Flint-Baum, Betsy Baum, Alice and David Goodrich. Other family members include granddaughters Julia and Monica Baum as well as niece Martha Pomper, nephews Tony and Michael Pomper, Michael and Peter Baum. Her husband Bob died in 2009. Many more relatives and friends remain behind.

Robin was very much loved by her family and friends and will be missed dearly.

Cremation services are provided by Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn, MA.

A celebration of life will take place this summer.

In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Robin's honor to The Nature Conservancy (preserve.nature.org).

We loved our neighbors! I spent a good deal of time babysitting their five kids (and have many wonderful and hilarious memories ) Many fond memories of Mrs. Baum and her caring family. Love to you all.

Mrs. Baum holds such a lovely presence in my childhood memories. I spent many days and nights with Sarah and the family around the kitchen table for meals. I remember Mrs.Baum chuckling when I told her that I had never had rice before. Apparently at my house we were potato people. Mrs. Baum always made me feel like a part of the family. Watching her hook her beautiful rugs was always fascinating to me. She was so lovely! May she Rest In Eternal Peace

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I will always remember her shepherding a group of 6 year olds to the Uncle Gus show! A brave woman, and a memory that always makes me smile.
