Charles McCullough Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Edward McCullough, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this life on Wednesday, August 6th, 2025, at the age of 81. A long-time resident of Pooler, Georgia, Edward was born in Ridgeland, South Carolina, on a mild spring day, Saturday, March 25th, 1944.

Throughout his life, Edward exemplified dedication and strength, both in his professional undertakings and personal commitments. A retired dock builder, he spent many years working for AMC Marine, where his hard work and mastery were well respected. Prior to his civilian career, Edward bravely served his country in the Army, instilling in him a sense of pride and discipline that characterized his life's journey. He was a co-founder and Chief of the West Effingham Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Elks Lodge.

Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Claudine McClelland McCullough, his parents, Flonnie Eddie McCullough and Gracie Mae Hudson McCullough, and his brother, James Robert McCullough, Sr.

He is survived by his loving sons, Pernell McCullough and his wife Miranda, and Michael "Mike" McCullough. His legacy lives on in his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Clarissa, Britney, and Sarah McCullough, as well as several great-grandchildren. Edward is also survived by his devoted sisters, Carolyn Herrington, Phyllis Bragg, and Marie Wagner, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss his wisdom, humor, and kindness.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, August 8th, 2025, at Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am with Pastor Steve McCoy officiating. Edward will be laid to rest at Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooklet, where he will be remembered for the love and support he gave to those around him.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Baker McCullough Funeral Home Garden City Chapel.
