James Eckes Obituary

James Henry Eckes, 84, passed away peacefully September 7, 2024, at home under the care of Hospice Savannah.

Jim was born in Queens, New York, son of Florence Pecora and James Eckes, Sr., both deceased. He attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Mepham High School in Bellmore, NY. He served in the US Navy from 1957-1960. He was employed by Northrup Grumman Aviation in NY from 1960-1968 and by Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah from 1968-1998. After his retirement, he worked as a ranger at the Skidaway Island Golf Club.

Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carole, his son, James III, daughters Joyce Bovee (David) and Joan Harris; grandsons Mark MacPhail (Kory), Daniel Bovee (Christina), and R.J. Bovee; granddaughters Jamie Dominguez, and Madison Stanfield (Kyle); great grandsons Reece Dominguez, Zachary Johnson and Tristan MacPhail; and great granddaughter Ashby Johnson. He is also survived by his brother Richard (Vivian).

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 12391 Mercy Blvd. Visitation will be at 10:00 am.

Remembrances may be sent to Trinity Lutheran Church or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
