James Grovenstein Obituary

U.S. Veteran

James Randall Grovenstein, 71, of Pooler, Georgia, died suddenly July 17, 2025, after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Randy was a faithful, loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a cherished member of the community. He dedicated his life to helping others every day. There are not enough words to describe how amazing he was. The legacy he leaves behind is one of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, love, devotion, hard work, and integrity. He was a Charter Member and Ruling Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Pooler, Georgia. For many years he has loved and served Jesus Christ as a disciple and Elder in His Church. He was considered by many children as "the church Granddaddy". He was what the church was supposed to be – a family. He served in the United States Air Force. He was retired from Gulfstream Aerospace after 30 years, and retired from Grovenstein Enterprises, Inc., his HVAC business. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Winston Grovenstein and Maureen Clark Grovenstein, a brother, Cary Winston Grovenstein, and a nephew, Carl Michael Grovenstein. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marsha Webb Grovenstein; daughter, Amanda G. Bene (Stephen); grandsons, Jonah Max Bene and James David Bene; sister, Sharon Warren (Jeff); brothers, Stephen Glen Grovenstein and Michael Lenn Grovenstein (Cynthia); sisters-in-law, Angela Grovenstein and Cathy Montgomery, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The visitation will be on Monday, July 21, 2025 from 10:45 a.m. until 12 noon at First Presbyterian Church of Pooler located at 1115 U.S. Highway 80 in Pooler. The funeral to honor Randy's life will follow at 12 noon in the sanctuary. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at the Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery located at 215 Martin Road in Midway, Georgia. Pastor Bill Gleason and Pastor John Fender will officiate. The pallbearers will be Tim O'Sako, Jared O'Sako, Allen Davis, Steve Mack, Thomas Miles, and Randy Saxon. I am so sad that Randy has departed this earth from his family and friends, but I am happy and joyful to know for certain that Randy is now in the presence of Almighty God. To know Randy is to know a true friend, sincere in his desire to be a friend and genuine in his concern for your well being. And while Randy is with the Lord, we are still here to mourn his absence from us but joyful to know he is with his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; temporary sorrow overshadowed by eternal joy.
