Mike also retains the record for the largest muskie caught at Leesville Lake. Mike was the 2004 Professional Muskie Tournament Trail World Champions and Top Gun Team of the year with Kevin Selders as his partner. The pair set the PMTT total points record and the PMTT total catch record, which they still hold to this day. In addition to fishing, Mike also enjoyed hunting and boating. He also owned and operated his own company, $ Baits, where he custom made his own fishing lures. Mike also enjoyed watching NASCAR and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver. He was also a fan of both the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Memorials may also be sent to this fund at PO Box 68, Newcomerstown 43832. Mike's mantra was "life is all about the stories, bub".
