Ann Marie Peebles Marsau

Ann Marie Peebles Marsau, a beloved resident of April Sound on Lake Conroe, passed away on Monday, May 22 following a long battle with cancer. Ann was born on June 30, 1934 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to June and Dick Peebles. She graduated from Wewoka High School in 1952 and then attended the University of Oklahoma (OU). While attending OU, Ann was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and was also a cheerleader. She graduated in 1956 with a degree in elementary education. It was at OU that Ann met her future husband, Clyde David Marsau. Clyde was at Oklahoma on a football scholarship while Ann was a cheerleader. The two were married in 1957 and moved to Manassas, Virginia, where Clyde had been stationed at the Pentagon with the United States Army. There they gave birth to their first son, Michael Richard Marsau, in 1958. In 1960, the family moved west and settled in Roswell, New Mexico. There they had their second son, William Scott Marsau, in 1961. Ann and Clyde raised their sons in Roswell, while Ann taught and Clyde worked in the pipeline industry. In 1979, Ann moved to Houston, Texas. Shortly following the move, she began teaching at The Kinkaid School, the oldest independent coeducational school in Greater Houston. She taught at The Kinkaid School for 12 years and cherished her time there. In 1995, Ann and Clyde retired to April Sound on Lake Conroe. Ann loved the people, friendly environment and activity of the April Sound community. Ann was an impressive athlete and was an avid tennis player and sportsman throughout her life. She was also a very talented artist and focused on oil painting, specializing in depicting dogs. Ann also had a beautiful singing voice and performed in a local chorale for many years. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her kindness, energy, her ability to light up a room, her contagious laugh and smile, and her unwavering strength. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, June and Dick, and her older brother Richard. She is survived by her husband Clyde, her sister Judy Wood, her son Michael and daughter-in-law Blythe, her son Scott, her grandchildren, who knew her as "Annie," Ashton Marsau Underbrink and husband Bob, great-granddaughter Arlo Underbrink, and grandchildren Ellen, Jack and David Marsau. 'Annie' loved being a mother and grandmother and she was beloved by her family. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at April Sound Church.
