Dennis was the great grandson of Texan John Motley Hensley who fought in the Texas Revolution. Dennis was preceded in death by his siblings Mattielue, Robert Emerson, Jr., Ina Zoe, his wives Dorothy May DeGarmo Davis Back, Keturah La Joy Malone Davis, Dorothy Kasner Davis, and daughter Denise Davis. Dennis is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Roy & Fay Davis. Dennis is, also, survived by his children and their spouses Alma Jean & Tim Bigler, Scott & Courtenay Davis; his grandchildren Peter & Kerri Bigler, Anitra & James Frederick, Lauren Davis, Stacy Davis, and Heather Davis; his great grandchildren Caleb, Jacob, Nathan, & Simon Bigler and Julia & Samuel Frederick; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews.

Dennis graduated from Mullin High School in 1937 and The University of Texas in 1953 after serving in the Army during WW2 and the Korean army of occupation. He was an accountant for a car dealership and a deputy sheriff. After working for the Texas Education Agency as an auditor traveling the state, Dennis went to work for Highland Park ISD where he retired 25 years later as Assistant Superintendent. He loved hunting, fishing, and playing cards. After retirement he owned a data collection company and part of several oil wells. He lived in the Dallas area for over 50 years and was a member of the Park City Baptist Church during that time. After moving to Conroe, he joined First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed "playing" the market and watching the financial news.

The family wishes to thank nurses Jenny and George of Total Home Health for their loving care over the past 4 years and to Heritage Oaks and Rose of Texas Hospice for their help in making Dennis' last days comfortable.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 10, 3 PM, at First United Methodist Church Faith Chapel, Conroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 4308 W. Davis, Conroe, 77304, for Vision 2020 or the charity of your choice.

So sorry for your lost. Mr. Davis use to come have me draw all his labs at Dr. Hallbauers office. He was the sweeties man ever and always talked about his family and the friends he seen in Dallas. Mr. Davis will be missed but i know he is in no more pain. Also he had a sweet daughter Mrs. Bigler and son-n-law that took care of him. Rest in peace for we all know you are in a better place. from the lab girl

We are sorry to learn of your loss of Dennis. When our father moved to Heritage Oaks, Dennis was one of the first gentlemen to whom we were introduced. May God bless your family during this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
