James Alan Howard was born May 27, 1945 in Baytown, Texas to James Milton Howard and Addie Mae Vick Howard, and passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 in Conroe, Texas at the age of 70. He was a graduate of Conroe High School in 1963. James was the manager/operator of the Howard Lumber Company for over twenty years and was a truck driver for TTL Inc. for fifteen years. His love and passion was wood working. James could build anything, porch swings, gliders, picnic tables, chairs, hope chest and various other items. His company was called Howard Wood Works. James served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War as a radio operator, and served on the USS Vesuvius. James is survived by the love of his life and wife of 40 years, Yvonne Howard of Conroe, Texas; daughter Candy Carmichael Strother of Lake Jackson, Texas; son Jeff Howard; brothers, Ronnie Howard of Houston, Texas and Larry Howard and wife Amy of Willis, Texas; grandchildren, Colton Howard and Courtney Farmicha. Graveside service will be Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 1:30pm in the Houston National Cemetery with Rev. David C. Quail officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the District 4 Honor Guard.
