Dr. Bruce Zakheim

Dr. Bruce Zakheim Nephrologist 52 the founding partner of Renal Hypertension Associates in Mount Laurel New Jersey died suddenly at his Cherry Hill home on Monday December 27 2004.
Dr. Zakheim was a graduate of Columbia University and the New York Medical College. After completing a residency in internal medicine at the Metropolitan Hospital Center in New York City in 1980 he moved to Philadelphia to enter a fellowship program in nephrology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Zakheim achieved certification in nephrology from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1982 and was elected to the American College of Physicians in 1986.
Dr. Zakheim served as an attending physician at Pennsylvania Hospital and as an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pennsylvania before moving to Cherry Hill to found the Burlington County Dialysis Center (BCDC) the first dialysis unit in Burlington County New Jersey. The BCDC and its successor Renal Hypertension Associates have treated roughly 14000 patients half of whom are currently under the care of its seven surviving physicians.
Dr. Zakheim's diagnostic acumen sense of humor compassion and generosity are legendary. He brought the full force of his abilities to the care of all who came to him in need of healing.
Bruce Zakheim is survived by Deborah his wife of 27 years and three sons: Jonathan 21; Adam 17; and Samuel 9. Also surviving are his mother Edith Zakheim; sister Marcia Griffel; and brother Howard Zakheim.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday December 29 at Platt's Memorial Chapels in Cherry Hill and Dr. Zakheim was interred in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge NJ. Gifts to honor his memory may be made to Temple Beth Sholom 1901 Kresson Road Cherry Hill NY 08003.
