AGE: 94 • Lindenwold
John J. McDevitt "Jack" on May 19, 2017, of Lindenwold. Age 94. Beloved husband of Alice V. McDevitt (nee Bowes). Loving father of Alice Obarski (Stephen F.) of Collingswood, John McDevitt, Jr. (Grace) of West Deptford, Eileen Waldin (David) of Lindenwold, Michael McDevitt (Chanell) of Moorestown, Timothy McDevitt (Rickie) of NC , Paul McDevitt (John) of Seattle, WA and the late Joseph McDevitt (Rosemary) of Stratford. Brother of Catherine "Kay" McDonald (Rev. Leo) of Maple Shade, James McDevitt (Addie) of Mt. Laurel and Joseph McDevitt (Kathy) of Somers Point. Thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Jack was a WWII Navy veteran and was retired from Philadelphia Electric Company. He was always very involved in his church and many church activities.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and Friday 10am to 11:30am in The Chapel at BOUCHER FUNERAL HOME, 1757 Delsea Dr., Deptford, NJ 08096. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 12:30pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. Lawrence Church, 135 N. White Horse Pike, Lindenwold, NJ 08021. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin. Flowers are most welcome; but for those who prefer, donations to Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Shrine would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to hear of Mr. McDevitt's passing. I remember him as very religious man and Mrs. McDevitt as well. I went to school with Joe and John Jr. A wonderful family! May he Rest in Peace!

Dear McDevitt Family,
I'm 72 now, but I have a long memory. When I was growing up as a grade school student at St. Lawrence in Lindenwold many decades ago, there were certain special people who were always really good and kind and patient with us as boys. Jack was one of those special men who always had time for us and treated us really well. He was truly a good man who dedicated himself to the Church. It was our privilege to have known him.
