Charles Chapman 'Chap' Rust
Evansville, Ind.
Charles Chapman "Chap" Rust, 85, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012, at his residence.
Charles was born in Kansas on October 18, 1926, to the late Henry Chapman and Erva Rust and was raised in West Plains, Mo. He moved to Evansville in the late 1950s. Charles was an entrepreneur and started many companies in the area including Performance Refinishing and RuVan Plastics Company. Charles was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and enjoyed working with his farm machinery. He was a great teacher and very kind to everyone he met.
Charles is survived by his wife of nearly 30 years, Edna Mae (Young) Rust, of Evansville, Ind.; his children, Henry Rust (Pam), of Miss., Robert Rust (Pat), of Evansville, Ind., Gary Rust, of Newburgh, Ind., Deborah Jines (Larry), of Evansville, Ind., Judith Scales, of Pa., Mary Ross (Donnie), of Evansville, Ind., Timothy Woodruff, of Louisville, Ky., Michael Woodruff (Karen), of Newburgh, Ind.; brother, Paul Rust (Barbara), of Elberfeld, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; Godson, Jason Woodruff; and caretakers, Christopher and Timothy Woodruff.
Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Rust; parents; sister, Donna Vandiver; brothers, Theodore Rust and John Rust; granddaughter, Layla Marie Webster; and a grandson, Joshua Byrley.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at noon Tuesday, February 28, 2012, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Road, Evansville, Ind., with Father Ted Tempel and Father Paul Ferguson officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 2 until 8 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2012, at Browning Funeral Home, where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. and from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
