Dorla Dean Barnerd, 86, of Cave-in-Rock, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Deaconess Hospital.
Dorla was born on December 12, 1930 to the late Tobe and Phoebe Oxford. On April 21, 1946 she married Rurie Birch Barnerd who preceded her in death in 2006. She worked several years as a nurse at Hardin County General Hospital. Dorla was a Christian who was very active in her church and was always eager and willing to help anyone. She loved cooking big meals for her family and friends, gardening, sewing and crafting.
Surviving family members include Larry (Warrena) Barnerd of Slaughters, Kentucky; Jack (Vicki) Barnerd of Evansville, Indiana, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and brother Paul Oxford of Harrisburg, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Michael Leo Barnerd, one brother, Gene Oxford and three sisters Dorothy Harvey, Imogene Cox, Norman Ann Rose.
At her request, there will be no services; the immediate family will have a private celebration of her life. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hardin County Auxiliary or the Golden Circle.
