Michael D. Tempel

Evansville - Michael D. Tempel, 74, of Evansville, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born March 20, 1946 in Evansville, to the late Edward T. and Henriette (Klass) Tempel.

Mike was a graduate of Memorial High School and the University of Southern Indiana. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy. Mike retired from Playtex, formerly worked for Durkee Spice & Co., and was presently working at Menards. He was a member of St. Benedict Cathedral, Evansville Athletic Club and the V.F.W. Mike enjoyed watching T.V. and planting his tomatoes.

Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Suzanne E. (Ekstein) Temple; daughter, Sara Phillips, of Evansville; son, Michael B. Tempel, M.D., of North Canton, OH; grandson and Mike's best buddy, Harrison Phillips; brother, Edward J. Tempel, of Chattanooga, TN; sister, Judy Norrington, of Evansville; nieces and nephews; and he loved his dogs, Jake, Hilda and Katy.

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Eagan.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 13th at Ziemer Funeral Home East Chapel, 800 S. Hebron Avenue where a Memorial service will begin 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, January 14th at the funeral home and continue with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Cathedral Church, 1328 Lincoln Avenue, with Fathers Ted Tempel and Godfrey Mullen officiating.

Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum.
