Richard C. Gooch, 89, of Evansville passed away at 5 pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Parkview Care Center.
Richard was born June 9, 1926 in Mill Shoals, Illinois the son of the late Maurice and Mary "Enna" (McCullough) Gooch. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Richard retired from Swift and Company as plant manager in 1988 where he had worked for 37 years. Richard attended Evansville United Christian Fellowship. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Evansville Purple Aces and Indy Car fan. Richard and his wife Joan celebrated 65 years of marriage on Sunday, April 10th.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joan (York) Gooch of Evansville; son, Barton Gooch (Deana) of Evansville; sister, Joyce Kelley of Davis, IL; brother, Dr. Bill (Lou) Gooch of Murphysboro, IL; sister-in-law, Jan Gooch of Flora, IL; grandchildren, Dr. Erik Gooch (Lynn Kennedy) and Cody Gooch; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Dunkel (Matt Beck), Stephen Dunkel (Veronica), Stacy Dunkel, Stanton Dunkel; step-great grandchildren, Devon Gentry (Aric), Ashton Albert, Inkeria Albert, Tobia Albert, Bridden Dunkel, Brandt Dunkel and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert "Bob" Gooch and sister, June Sheraden.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave., Evansville with Reverend Roger Willis and Dr. Bill Gooch officiating and the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will render full military rites. Burial will be in Shrewsbury Cemetery, Mill Shoals, IL.
Friends may visit from 3 pm until 7 pm, Friday, April 15, 2016, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel and again from Noon until time of service at 1:30 pm, Saturday.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Tri State Multiple Sclerosis Association, 971 S. Kenmore Dr, Evansville, IN 47714.
